e n g l i s h : the gedankenschmied-Projekt (thought-smith-project)
serves to signpost ways through a labyrinth of reflections and references. It means to navigate the complex milieu of representations of thoughts. The project arises from interaction with the dynamic field of the environment in which it is embedded. The focus here is on the aspect of the authenticity of the representation of the particular reflections. They reify throughout the production process and branch off into entities that can be experienced by the senses. The results of the respective processes can be understood as encouragement; an attempt to perceive the reification of ideas/thoughts themselves as a positive challenge. What does an idea really look like? What does it feel like? How does it sound? What are the preconditions that determined its birth and that govern its existence? Is it a spontaneous association? From what point does it transform into a thought, into a train of thought? Are the transitions noticeable, fluid, arbitrary, spontaneous? Do trains of thought need an internal context? What happens during the particular reification process? Does an idea change when you try to describe it? What difficulties arise when one tries to fix theoretical emanations in the dimensions of space and time? What feedback arises, is inevitable, non-existent, make their absence felt? The diversity of particularities, the respect for the otherness of the other, should inspire further processes. These questions mean we have to travel, combine and loop through many different media. The development of the processes tends to be infinite. No definitive context exists for the content. In principle, no logical or logo centric determination is planned. The thought-smith-project can unfold in many different ways. Thoughts are free!

sieht sich als Wegweiser durch ein Labyrinth von Spiegelungen und Verweisen. Der Prozess des Gedankenschmiedens wird hierbei sehr weit gefasst und bezieht sich auf das komplexe Milieu verschiedenster Repräsentationen von Gedanken. Das Projekt entsteht in Interaktion mit dem dynamischen Feld der Umwelt, in die es eingebettet ist. Der Fokus der Aufmerksamkeit ist hierbei auf den Aspekt der Authentizität der Repräsentation der jeweiligen Reflexion gerichtet. Möglichst viele verschiedene Reflexionen können im Laufe der Produktionsprozesse materialisiert werden und sich zu sensuell erfahrbaren Entitäten verzweigen. Die Resultate der jeweiligen Prozesse können als Anregung verstanden werden, den Versuch der Materialisation von Vorstellungen/Gedanken an sich als produktive Herausforderung zu begreifen. Wie sieht eine Vorstellung wirklich aus? Wie fühlt sie sich an? Wie klingt sie? An welche Vorbedingungen ist und war sie geknüpft? Ist sie eine spontane Assoziation? Von welchem Punkt an verwandelt sie sich in einen Gedanken, in einen Gedankengang? Sind die Übergänge merklich, fließend, willkürlich, spontan? Brauchen Gedankengänge einen inneren Zusammenhang? Was geschieht während der jeweiligen Materialisierungsprozesse? Verändert eine Vorstellung sich bereits bei dem Versuch, sie zu beschreiben? Welche Problematiken stellen sich angesichts der Fixierung von gedanklichen Emanationen in räumliche und zeitliche Dimensionen? Welche Feedbacks sind entstanden, sind unvermeidlich, inexistent, lassen ihre Abwesenheit spüren? Die Vielfalt der Besonderheiten, die Achtung vor der Andersheit des Anderen soll als Inspiration für weitere Prozesse dienen. Die Vielfalt der Fragen bedeutet, dass wir durch viele verschiedene Medien reisen, sie kombinieren und in Spiralen/Zirkel einbinden müssen. Der Verlauf der Prozesse ist jeweils tendenziell unendlich. In Bezug auf den Inhalt existiert kein maßgeblicher Zusammenhang. Es ist prinzipiell keine logische oder logozentrische Determination vorgesehen. Das Gedankenschmied-Projekt kann sich in verschiedenste Richtungen ausfalten.

presents the ideas of an imaginary person called Ston Gedankenhit, who transforms subjective inspirations and ideas into works of art. The particular ideas make their purely theoretical character clear through their anonymity. As ideas that are expressed through certain media, they can easily be woven into a great number of different contexts. Matthew Claire has decided to specialise in the area of ‘pure imagination’. He sees the 'imagining’ of 'pure imagination’ as passive observation that can evoke astonishment. The astonishment evoked is reason enough for the recording of ideas in Claire’s artistic apparatus. Ideas presenting the ‘black box’ of the mental space (input) of Mathew Claire are almost simultaneously interpreted as (output) and, as such, are transformed into media constellations that can be experienced by the senses. www.matthewclaire.de
